<“VIB ESS Will Be the Core of Future Power Infrastructure for AI and Beyond” — Standard Energy Concludes WCE 2025 Participation with Success>
Standard Energy, developer of the world’s first Vanadium Ion Battery (VIB) optimized for energy storage systems (ESS), announced on September 2 that it successfully concluded its participation in the World Climate Industry Expo 2025 (WCE 2025) in Busan.
From August 27 to 29, Standard Energy presented its joint AI power solution with Rebellions at BEXCO. In a live demo, when grid power feeding Rebellions’ NPU-based AI server rack was cut, the VIB ESS responded in just 3 milliseconds (0.003s), keeping the system fully stable.
“If backup is not supplied within 10 ms, AI data centers risk frequency disruption and even shutdown,” said Seong-Jin Kim, Head of Technology Business. “Our VIB ESS prevents this with unmatched speed and high output. Beyond UPS functions, it manages sudden power spikes in AI workloads. We see it as the only ESS capable of protecting urban AI data centers today.”
The booth also featured past deployments, including a subway power-efficiency ESS at Gu-am Station in Daejeon and pilot projects with local utilities. Visitors also saw video of V-line, Standard Energy’s automated production line for VIB, which completed testing in August and will begin full production later this year.
Executives from leading companies and institutions showed strong interest in VIB ESS — not only its field results and automation progress, but also its timeline for mass supply and potential for integration into broader “energy highway” infrastructure.
“The theme of this year’s WCE — ‘Energy for AI & AI for Energy’ — highlights that AI and energy are Korea’s next growth engines, and they must be developed together,” said Bu-Gi Kim, CEO of Standard Energy. “We confirmed market demand and recognition of VIB ESS as a core element of future power systems.”
Kim added, “With overseas pilots and automated production in place, we expect major milestones in the second half of the year. From this expo forward, we will accelerate our expansion into both domestic and global markets.”
