Rebellions, a developer of high-performance, low-power AI semiconductors, and Standard Energy, which has commercialized Vanadium Ion Battery (VIB) technology optimized for energy storage systems (ESS), have jointly won a CES 2026 Innovation Award in the Sustainability & Energy Transition category.

The award-winning solution, “Dopamine,” integrates Rebellions’ ATOM AI semiconductor, renowned for ultra-efficient inference performance, with Standard Energy’s high-power, intrinsically nonflammable VIB ESS—forming a next-generation power backbone for AI data centers.

When grid power was intentionally cut during a live demo at the 2025 Climate Industry Expo (BEXCO, Busan), the VIB ESS began supplying power within 3 milliseconds, maintaining continuous operation of Rebellions’ AI server rack. Tests also showed that when inference requests suddenly surged, the VIB ESS stabilized the power flow in milliseconds, dramatically reducing peak load and ensuring system reliability.

This marks a rare instance of two startups co-winning a CES Innovation Award, and Standard Energy’s second consecutive recognition following its 2025 win for the VIB Energy Tile.

On June 17, 2025, Rebellions and Standard Energy signed a strategic partnership to co-develop and commercialize energy solutions tailored for AI data centers. The collaboration aims to tackle one of the AI industry’s biggest challenges—power consumption and stability—by combining Rebellions’ low-power NPU technology with Standard Energy’s ultra-fast, safe VIB ESS platform.

“This CES 2026 Innovation Award proves that combining AI semiconductors with energy technology is vital for the efficiency and sustainability of next-generation AI infrastructure,” said Sunghyun Park, CEO of Rebellions.

Bu-gi Kim, CEO of Standard Energy, added, “As the AI industry grows, soaring power demand and unstable usage patterns are becoming global issues. Together with Rebellions, we’re presenting a fundamental solution to this long-standing challenge.”

The two companies plan to leverage this recognition to expand their joint AI power-infrastructure business both domestically and globally, positioning Korea as a first mover redefining how the world powers AI.
